HIGH streets, squares and public spaces across London will be dressed up in the colours of the 2012 Olympics next year.
Each borough will be given £50,000 by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson to decorate areas with flags, banners and bunting.
Councils must consult with the Greater London Authority and Games organisers Locog by the end of July and confirm their plans by the end of September.
It is part of a programme which will also see London’s landmarks and tourist venues dressed in Olympic branding.
Mr Johnson said: “We all have a duty to make the most of this opportunity and I’m determined to ensure every part of the capital gets to benefit and enjoy the games.
“This fund will help us put on the best show and showcase ourselves to the world - wherever we are.”
