A GROUP of drug dealers have been jailed for more than 29 years following an under cover police investigation.

Detectives from the Violent and Organised Crime Unit (VOCU), which is funded by Greenwich Council, dismantled a criminal network selling class A drugs in Greenwich.

Investigation

Jibril Jama and Acer

The operation, code named Granite, started in July last year when officers began to investigate drug lines and those running them.

A drug line is a phone number controlled by a drug dealer who in turn controls a particular drug market.

News Shopper: Jibril Jama Operation Granite initially targeted Ace, real name Jibril Jama, 22, who was running the drug market in Westcombe Park.

Jama was running what officers described as ‘a very busy drug line’ together with his close 17-year-old associate known as Acer.

Officers working undercover used a number of tactics to gain evidence, including test purchase operations during which Jama and Acer sold drugs to officers posing as drug users.

Detectives bought from the pair 27 wraps of cocaine and 24 wraps of heroin which amounted to a street value of £470.

Both Jama and his 17 year old associate were arrested and charged on November 9 last year.

They pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine.

Hassan Hassan

At the end of July last year officers had moved onto a new target, 29-year-old Hassan Hassan, known as Goldie.

News Shopper: Hassan Hassan Hassan was controlling a drug line in East Greenwich and sold officers 42 grams of crack cocaine and 18 grams of heroin which amounted to a street value of £3,820.

He was arrested and charged on November 9 and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Ibrahim Jama, Freye Frezgi and others

In September last year officers gathered evidence against 24-year-old Ibrahim Jama, also known as Max.

News Shopper: Ibrahim Jama He was controlling the drug market in Shooters Hill and Dover Patrol and was being assisted by Freye Frezgi, 19.

Officers bought four grams of crack cocaine and nearly two grams of heroin from Jama and Frezgi, which amounted to a street value of £405.

The pair were arrested and charged on November 9 and both pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply crack and heroin.

The operation also gained evidence against four other people who were involved in the supply of Class A drugs and have all pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of crack and heroin.

Sentencing

Ace, real name Jibril Jama, of Perrott Street, Woolwich, jailed for five years.

The 17-year-old associate known as Acer was jailed for one year and six months.

Hassan Hassan, of London Road, Forest Hill, known as Goldie jailed for five years.

Ibrahim Jama of Woodhill Road, Woolwich, known as ‘Max’, jailed for six years and eight months.

Freye Frezgi, of Rectory Field Crescent, Charlton, jailed for four years.

Kebba Sonko, 39, of Rochester Way, Kidbrooke, was sentenced to two years eight months.

Stephen Jones, 50, of Blackwall Lane, Greenwich, was sentenced to two years.

Erol Huseyin, 31, of Rochester Way, Kidbrooke was sentenced to one year eight months.

Louie Pope, 26, of Hatton Close, Plumstead, was sentenced to eight months.

Ibrahim Jama, Frezgi, Sonko and Huseyin were sentenced on April 4 at Woolwich Crown Court whilst Jibril Jama and Hassan were sentenced on the April 11 at the same court.

The 17-year-old was jailed on January 28 at Camberwell Youth Court, Pope was jailed on December 17 last year at Woolwich Crown court and Jones was sentenced at the same court on January 17.

VOCU Officer

VOCU Officer Detective Constable Phil Lund said: “The purpose of this operation was to tackle prominent class A drug dealers.

“Jama, Hassan and Ibrahim Jama were at the heart of the drug dealings.

“These lengthy sentences send a strong message out to those involved in crime who believe they are untouchable and above the law.

“We have seriously disrupted drug dealings in Greenwich and will continue our investigations to bring more people before the courts.”
