A NEW trainee paramedic degree is in huge demand at the University of Greenwich.

More than 230 people have applied for the full-time course, which has 15 places available for the new September term.

The BSc in paramedic science combines learning in the workplace as part of an ambulance crew with academic study, assessments and laboratory exercises.

Programme leader Dave Kerr said: “This is a degree which leads directly to a professional job and to a promising career path, so we’re seeing more and more people regarding life as a paramedic as a serious option.”

The course is delivered in partnership with the South East Coast Ambulance NHS Trust and is based at the university’s Medway Campus.
