A GROUP of care homes is joining forces with the wildlife charity RSPB to create wildlife friendly gardens in the homes.

During the course of this year the Bupa-owned homes and their residents will be creating communal gardens designed to attract birds and provide habitats for other wildlife.

Once the gardens are established, the plan is to invite the residents to take part in other wildlife related activities such as making nesting boxes and bird watching.

Abbotsleigh Mews and Sidcup Nursing and Residential Care Centre, both in Sidcup, are among the 11 Bupa homes in the Kent area which are taking part in the Homes for Wildlife project.
