A GROUP of political activists are challenging the Government to change the way MPs are elected.
The ‘Yes to fairer votes’ group met at One Bell Corner, Dartford, to hand out leaflets about their campaign to change the British voting system.
The group wants to change voting from the current first-past-the-post system, to the alternative vote (AV) system.
Under the AV system, voters would be able to rank candidates in order of preference, meaning they have a say in the outcome even after their first choice is eliminated.
Both yes and no campaigns have sprung up in response to a proposed referendum in May on whether or not to change the system.
