Bromley Council’s leader has responded to the announcement of the level of cuts in funding local authorities will receive from the government.
On Monday, (Dec 13), Communities and Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles announced a 9.9 per cent cut in government funding in 2011/12, followed by a 7.3 per cent fall in 2012/13.
Bromley Council leader Councillor Stephen Carr said: “These initial figures leave us in no doubt the reduction will be significant and we face financially challenging times ahead.
“However, I am confident we have developed robust plans to manage savings of up to 25 per cent while doing all we can to protect front line services.
“We are working hard to identify potential savings by re-examining and modifying our working practices and challenging what we do and how we do it.”
