AN art project for a group of school pupils has netted cash for the school’s art department and brightened up the local shopping centre for Christmas.

Art in View, a new not-for-profit organisation has been working on its first community art project with pupils aged 11 to 14 at Erith School in Avenue Road, Erith.

The Christmas themed competition involved the schools’s heads of art Jenny Griffith and Ronnie King choosing the best entries to represent the 12 days of Christmas.

Shops in the Erith Riverside shopping centre agreed to showcase the pupils’ work in their shops until January 1.

And the 12 winners will be on display in Erith library in the High Street from this week until January 5.

Art in View has given a £250 prize to the school’s art department and Erith supermarket Morrisons has contributed another £50 in vouchers.

Participating pupils have also been encouraged to find their work and have a photograph taken with it to post on the Art in View facebook page.
