A NEW project is being launched in Bexley to help the victims of domestic violence.

The TRYangle charity will work in tandem with trained officers from Bexley police to try and prevent repeated assaults on both men and women.

TRYangle, based in Greenwich, will provide counselling, advice and support to victims and is being funded by the Met. Police Authority through a grant to Bexley Community Safety Partnership.

There will be telephone support, information sessions and support groups for men and women.

Bexley’s domestic violence team championed the scheme and led to it being taken up in Bexley.Detective Inspector Heather Toulson from Bexley police said: “We have a dedicated team of trained officers investigating domestic violence, who are committed to using this new scheme as an early intervention opportunity.

She added: “The aim is to reduce repeat offending by offering additional help and emotional and practical support through this charity, set up specifically to provide counselling services.”

Bexley Council’s cabinet member for community affairs, Councillor Katie Perrior, said: “This new link with TRYangle is just another weapon in the fight against domestic violence.

“Counselling, advice and support can help take pressure off an intolerable situation and help relationships to work though difficult times.”

She added: “To speak to a dedicated and experienced counsellor can make all the difference.

“I hope the service is well used.”
