A PENSIONER has been awarded the Elizabeth Cross Medal in honour of his brother’s sacrifice during the Korean War.
Robert Kinnear, aged 84, was given the award to recognise the service of his brother David Kinnear, who was a sergeant in the Royal Military Police and was killed aged 20 in Korea in 1951.
Robert said he was “very proud” to receive the medal, which is awarded to the families of armed forces members who have died in service since the Second World War.
He received the award during a ceremony at the Royal Logistic Corps Officers’ Mess in Deepcut, near Farnborough, and said: “It is very important to recognise every serviceman who died after the war.”
