THE COST of entering a planning application in Dartford could rise by up to 15 per cent under Government proposals to let councils set their fees.
Dartford borough council's cabinet will meet on Thursday to discuss how the proposals would affect the area.
Planning application fees are currently set by the central Government, but as part of a string of local authority changes, Dartford could soon set its own rates.
A report submitted to the council by regeneration officer Alec Lauder stated that the council could begin to charge for resubmissions.
Application processing fees currently raise £485 for the council’s development and control board. But as staffing costs up to £450 of that sum, the council says its overheads are not met by the current fees.
