MORE than 200 new trees will be planted in Bromley streets before spring as part of the Mayor of London’s scheme to brighten up the capital.
Mayor Boris Johnson’s programme will see 207 trees planted in the borough over the coming months, and local residents will be consulted on the best places to put them.
This is the third of four stages of planting to see 10,000 new trees in London by 2012, and the mayor said: “Thanks to these trees, streets across Bromley will be leafier, more pleasant places to live.
“It is superb news that we are firmly on track, and actually ahead of schedule, to meet my target of 10,000 new street trees across London by 2012.”
