A TOWN centre bar has been refused permission to open until 1am on Thursday nights after residents complained about disturbances and noise from late-night drinkers.
The Affinity Bar in Bexleyheath Broadway, shuts at 11.30pm on week nights and at 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
It asked for planning permission to extend its midnight closing time on a Thursday until 1am, saying it had not received any complaints from anyone about its patrons.
But people living nearby claimed they were already subjected to late-night shouting, swearing, fighting, minor damage to their properties and people urinating in the street.
They claimed no other licensed premises in the area was allowed to stay open after midnight.
Bexley police also opposed the application.
At Bexley Council’s planning committee, Councillor Kerry Alon pointed out Thursday night at the bar was advertised as “student night”.
The committee also heard the capacity of the bar was 400 people.
Members unanimously rejected to extension.
