A YEAR on from the time murder victim Philip Silvester was last seen, detectives are reappealing for witnesses.

Mr Silvester, 62, was found at his home in Kellaway Road, Kidbrooke, at 5:50pm on December 13 last year, by police officers who forced their way into his home.

He had suffered a violent assault and died as a result of injuries to his head and chest.

Mr Silvester was last seen on December 2 at about midday when he drove in his H registration silver/blue Ford Escort to a convenience store in Whetstone Road.

CCTV images of him taken at the convenience store, is the last time he was seen alive.

Investigating detectives believe he was killed a short time later.

Detectives Inspector Nigel Foster, from the Met's Homicide Serious Crime Command, said: "Despite continued efforts we are still in the dark as to why anyone would want to murder such a quiet and private man who kept himself to himself.

"I would like to take the opportunity today to appeal to anyone who was in the area this time last year. I would ask that they think carefully about anything they may have seen or heard that could prove significant to the investigation."

"I would particularly like to appeal to anyone who was in Kellaway Road between December 1 December and December 13 and heard a disturbance in the area to contact the police."

A reward of up to £20,000 is now being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Anyone with information should call police on 020 8721 4868 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
