A GRAFFITI vandal who caused £113,000 in damage across London’s railways over three years has been jailed for 26 months.

Amongst 24-year-old Sam Moore’s targets were Plumstead station where he cause £9,228 worth of damage to rail sidings.

The vandal also hit Brockley rail bridge and New Cross Gate station, running up a cleaning cost of £4,900.

British Transport Police had tracked the man down after checking his signature “tag” on their database.

Moore, from the Isle of Wight, had pleaded guilty to 25 counts of criminal damage.

He was also given a five-year anti-social behaviour order when sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on November 18.

Detective Sergeant Jeremy Walley, of British Transport’s Graffiti Unit, said: "Moore’s vandalism was nothing more than wanton damage that costs thousands of pounds to clean up.

"Writing graffiti on the railway or elsewhere is not a harmless pastime and we will continue to work closely with train operating companies, Network Rail and other police forces to reduce these criminal acts.”
