AMENDED plans for the restoration of a derelict cinema have been given the go-ahead.
Greenwich planning board's votes were split five- five over the latest £5m proposal for the Coronet Cinema in Well Hall Road, Eltham.
Board chairman, Councillor Alex Grant decided to use his casting vote to grant planning permission to the developers, Cathedral Group.
It will see the development of a children's play centre in the auditorium, five new ground-floor shop units and 24 flats.
The company put forward its amended application in January after its previous proposals to restore the cinema were called-in by the Planning Inspectorate last year because of wide public opposition.
But some residents are still concerned about the new plans saying there should be more housing on the ground floor of the development instead of shops.
Cathedral Group's development manager Hannah Puttonen said: "We have got support from the community and we will make it work."
The meeting took place on July 27.
