PEOPLE are being urged to give generously to this year’s poppy appeal.

Members from the Royal British Legion will be out on the streets of Dartford collecting for the Poppy Appeal in the build up to Remembrance Day on November 14.

Funds collected will go to support servicemen and ex-servicemen affected by war.

Mayor of Dartford Councillor Patrick Coleman says he wants people to give generously to show their appreciation for their work.

He said: “We are reminded, almost daily of the sacrifice of death or injury many of our young men and women are making as a result of the conflicts in Afghanistan and previously in Iraq.

“I would therefore encourage people to give generously when claiming their poppy.”
