STUDENTS at a Bexley school played host to some very special guests as a reward for their fundraising skills.
Townley Grammar School for Girls in Townley Road, Bexleyheath, has raised more than £40,000 for children’s charities by taking part in the annual Readathon event.
To celebrate the success of their efforts and of Readathon, they were visited by the founder of Readathon, Brough Gurling, and renowned children’s author, Inbali Iserles (both corr).
Readathon was founded in 1984 to encourage children to read for pleasure and to raise cash for charity.
It donates the money raised to the Clic Sergeant charity for children and young people with cancer and to the Roald Dahl Foundation which gives help and support to seriously ill children.
Dahl was a big supporter of the Readathon.
