A COMMUTER has labelled an apology he received from a rail company a “hollow victory” after he was detained for taking photos.

The secret blogger, who refers to himself as 'Olly Cromwell' and wears a pigs mask at protests to conceal his identity, was ordered off his Southeastern train at Gravesend by Rail Enforcement Officers (REO) after taking photos of them on his mobile phone on July 24.

He then had to wait against his will on the platform for the British Transport Police.

After weeks of complaining to Southeastern, he received an email apologising for the incident on August 27.

The 36-year-old blogger said: “I don't think it was a sincere apology and I think it's a rather hollow victory for myself as I had to force them to apologise.”

In the email, Sarah Boundy from Southeastern’s customer services said she was sorry for the delay caused to the blogger’s journey by Southeastern’s REOs.

She went on to say: “I can confirm that this wasn't the correct course of action for us to have taken.

“I trust this note makes reparation from any omission to acknowledge and apologise for anything that we did wrong on the day.”

The apology follows an earlier email to the blogger from Southeastern on August 25 that acknowledged passengers were free to take photographs at their stations.

The IT worker from Streatham told News Shopper he is “mildly satisfied with the outcome” of the incident but is happy it has been acknowledged.
