TWO community-run parks have been recognised as the country’s best green spaces.

Twinkle Park and Charlotte Turner Gardens, which are both in Deptford, have received a Green Pennant Award.

Part of the Green Flag award scheme, the pennants recognise high-quality green spaces which are managed by voluntary and community groups.

The awards have been given to Twinkle Park for six years running and to Charlotte Turner gardens for the second year in a row.

Both parks are managed by the Twinkle Park Trust and maintained by Greenwich Council.

The award scheme is run by charities Keep Britain Tidy, GreenSpace and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Green spaces are eligible to receive an award if they are open to the public and free to enter.
