A 35-YEAR-OLD woman is celebrating after being crowned Britain’s Best Baker.
Sherry Glasgow, of Kentlea Road, Thamesmead, beat more than 100 budding patissiers in the Red Letter Days national baking competition.
She was awarded first place with her vanilla sponge and butter cream filled cake, which was decorated as a beach with sugared dolphins leaping from blue icing waves.
Eight finalists were judged by Master Patissier Eric Lanlard, Guardian food blogger Oliver Thring and Red Letter Days’ managing director Bill Alexander.
Mrs Glasgow, who works in administration, won a week long holiday for two in Sri Lanka, a cake making master class with Mr Lanlard and £1,000 worth of Red Letter Days.
Red Letter Days are experiences which can be given as presents.
