A HOAX caller who told emergency services he had been raped by a whale will be psychologically assessed before being sentenced.

Daniel Hammond, of Conifer Way, Swanley, made a series of nuisance calls between August last year and this March, Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court heard this morning.

The 21-year-old called 999 to make bomb threats while claiming to be Saddam Hussein and said he was going to shoot himself in the penis with a shotgun because smoking too much marijuana had made him impotent.

He also claimed to be called Ben Dover and calling from the moon, told an operator he had just seen dead rapper 2 Pac, and confessed to having been raped by a whale.

James Nichols, prosecuting, told the court Hammond ended one call by being abusive to the operator and saying: “I don’t need help, I’m just pranking you.”

Hammond had admitted making the hoax calls and was due to be sentenced this morning.

But Emma Cranfield, mitigating, said more time was needed to assess him.

She said: “It is clear Mr Hammond needs help. He suffers from a number of mental health problems, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.”

The magistrates agreed to adjourn sentencing Hammond to May 25 so he can be psychologically assessed.
