A FORMER world boxing champ has presented a cheque of more than £60,000 to various armed forces charities.
The TA and Army boxing club in Baring Road, Grove Park, raised £61,908 after holding a charity dinner boxing event in February.
Guests enjoyed food, military entertainment and boxing at the Banqueting Hall in Whitehall Palace, London.
Former world welterweight boxing champion Lloyd Honeyghan presented the cheque, which will be split between various military charities including Help for Heroes, the Royal British Legion, Combat Stress, St John’s Ambulance, and Veterans Aid.
Since 2006, when the clubs were set up, the team has raised more than £123,000 for charity. This year’s amount beat all previous records.
