A PUBLIC inquiry has opened following more than a decade of planning disputes over the site of a demolished building.
Lavender Cottage in Manor Way, Beckenham, was knocked-down four years ago, shortly after it was badly damaged in a fire.
Landowner Godwin Vella has since been refused planning permission for a three-storey block of 14 two-bedroom flats and a 2.4m-high perimeter fence.
Lavender Properties Ltd and Bromley Council both presented evidence to a Government planning inspector this month during a two-day hearing.
The inspector will consider both arguments before making a decision, which is expected in the next few months.
