A COMMUNITY picked up tools and cleaned up their area.
Eight residents living near Kenilworth Road and Royston Field, Penge, cut back overgrown trees and bushes and picked up rubbish in alleyways.
Bromley Council gave them litter pickers, rubbish bags and gardening tools to make the job easier.
The operation was held as part of the council's Purple Patch scheme, which aims to help residents who want make their neighbourhood a better place to live.
Co-secretary of the Friends of Royston Field group Penny Read said: "We wanted to do something to improve our area and all our hard work has really paid off.
"It's a great achievement for everyone involved."
