A GREAT-GRANDFATHER is celebrating his 100th birthday today.
Sydney Evans moved to The Heath Nursing Home, Liskeard Gardens, Blackheath, when he was 99 years old.
The former plant engineer is a grandfather-of-four.
Mr Evans, who has been widowed twice, spent most of his life living in Eltham.
He still retains an interest in stamp collecting and locomotives.
The father-of-two says the secret to his longevity is simply "to live a clean and honest life".
