THOUSANDS of children put their best foot forward as part of Walk to School Week.
Thirty schools in Greenwich took part in the national campaign from May 22 to May 26 to promote the importance of walking.
Alderwood Primary, Rainham Close, Eltham, kicked off the week when pupils were given a giant jigsaw from Transport for London (TfL) describing someone's safe journey to school.
Walk to School week is run by partnership group Travelwise and charity Living Streets, and funded by the Department for Transport and TfL at a cost of £60,000.
Healthy school representative at Alderwood Primary Katie Virtue said: "The children were excited to hold the jigsaw pieces and do something practical. Walk to School is an initiative we will always support."
