ARTISTIC students have made model teachers to send to Tony Blair as part of the Make Poverty History campaign.
More than 210 pupils at St Augustine's Primary School, Dunfield Road, Bellingham, teamed up to make the imaginative cut-outs.
The models will be sent to the PM by June 16 to represent the importance of all children across the world being in education by 2015 one of the aims of the campaign.
Model teachers made by the children represent the need for trained teachers in Third World countries in areas such as Africa and South America.
The children's designs were influenced by famous artists, including Picasso.
They showcased some of their designs at the school on May 24.
Headteacher Marilyn McCaughan said: "We wanted the children to understand they have talent and responsibilities and they can try and help not just their community but the whole world."
