A FORMER businessman says he will never drive a lorry again after overturning his vehicle while over the drink-drive limit.
Dartford magistrates banned David Lea from driving for a year on May 23 after an accident in Green Street Green Road, Dartford, which saw the lorry he was driving mount the curb and turn over.
The 61-year-old, of Owenite Street, Abbey Wood, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle above the alcohol limit.
Lea was found to have 146 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine the limit is 107.
Lea told the court he had to close down his haulage firm after the accident on December 8 last year.
He said: "My lifestyle ended the day of the accident and I do not have any intention of ever driving a lorry again."
Lea, representing himself, added: "The bend in the road caught me out. I had some drinks the night before and I considered a night's sleep would be ok."
He claimed he had not hit the curb and the vehicle had overturned due to the load in the lorry shifting.
Lea was fined £250 and ordered to pay costs of £43.
