AN OUTLET of coffee bar chain Caffe Nero has had its marching orders from Bexley Council.
The chain has opened a new cafe in Sidcup High Street, in the former Budgens store, without getting planning permission for a change of use.
Last week the firm tried to applying for retrospective planning permission, which was opposed by residents.
Ron Gee, from the Manor House Residents' Association, told Bexley's planning committee Caffe Nero was one of three new cafes which had opened illegally in the High Street.
Geoff Willing, from the Sidcup Town Partnership, said the owners had been told they needed permission but went ahead anyway.
There were also safety concerns about the arrangements for the post office, part of the same building, where the narrow entrance is blocked by advertising units.
The committee unanimously rejected the company's application.
