HERITAGE FUN: To mark Heritage Day, Crossness Engines Industrial Museum, Belvedere Road, Abbey Wood, is starting up its Prince Consort beam engine during an open day. The engine and the Victorian engine house have been restored by a band of volunteers. The open day runs from 10.30am to 5pm. Tickets cost £4 for adults. There is a car park and a museum shop.

MAST PLAN: Residents in the Carlton Road area of Northumberland Heath who thought they had fought off T-Mobile's attempt to site a phone mast next to the Roman Catholic Friary have discovered Bexley Council's refusal for planning permission has been overturned on appeal.

PHONES DOWN: The switchboard at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup, will have to be closed down tomorrow from 1am until 5am so it can be upgraded so no incoming or outgoing calls can be made.

FESTIVAL DAY: The 15th Erith Riverside Festival takes place this Sunday along the river front in Erith High Street. The free fun starts at 10am and lasts all day.
