What message would we be sending if heroin galleries became legal?

Isn't it just a way of shutting the door on a problem which is unpalatable to the majority?

The argument shooting-up rooms will get drug addicts off the streets is short-sighted and will do nothing to solve the pernicious problems of drug abuse.

Have we really not developed any further than the 1780s when we were shipping those we didn't like off to Australia?

This idea of opening these black holes for those we feel we cannot do anything more for is draconian.

Out of sight, out of mind. Is that it?

It is easy for us to say it's nothing to do with us and it's their choice if they want to jack up they can go and do it somewhere else but what if it was a daughter of yours?

What if your child through silly immaturity met someone who was into drugs and slipped the slope of falling in love with a druggie, only to become one herself?

Would you want legislation passed accepting this behaviour by providing centres where she can annihilate herself legally?

It is practical help to get off drugs which should be provided.

These people need a reason to live not a door leading to a pit from which they will never return.

How on earth will they realise they are wasting their lives if we force them underground behind closed doors?

At least having addicts on the streets makes us aware of the unhappiness so many carry around with them day after day.

Hiding them away is not the solution.
