CHILDREN affected by the Chernobyl disaster will be treated to a day on a miniature railway when they visit Gravesend this summer.
Gravesend-based charity Concern for Chernobyl Children has organised a trip for a group of 23 youngsters and two interpreters from Belarus to stay with host families for a month.
The annual trips give the youngsters a chance to escape the effects of the disaster, including food affected by radiation and contaminated air.
The Gravesend Model Marine and Engineering Society will give the children a day of free rides on its track at the Cascades Leisure Centre, Thong Lane, Gravesend.
The youngsters, aged between nine and 12, will also be treated to tea and cakes.
