BEXLEY'S Roman Catholic secondary school for girls received a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors.

Governors at St Catherine's in Watling Street, Bexleyheath, say they are thrilled by their latest report in which the school achieves one of the top two grades for every aspect of school life.

The school attracts pupils of average ability and almost a third of the girls are from minority ethnic groups.

Almost two thirds of pupils gain at least five top grade GCSEs.

Inspectors said leadership at the school was outstanding, teaching was good and relationships between staff and pupils were excellent.

The report described the pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as outstanding.

And it said the girls were deeply involved in school life and their opinions valued.

A group of pupils recently helped interview candidates for the position of deputy headteacher.

Chairman of governors John Husband said: "Ofsted has confirmed what we and our parents already knew.

"St Catherine's is a great school doing great things for our children."
