DIVE IN: Swimming club Greenwich Borough Mariners is putting on taster sessions for 36 Eltham children. The four hour-long swimming sessions end on Friday. The sessions are provided in partnership Greenwich Sports Development, the Amateur Swimming Association and Greenwich Leisure Ltd.
ACE SESSION: Tennis fans can have a ball at a taster session being put on by Greenwich Council and City Tennis Clubs. All ages are welcome to attend the session being held at Eltham Park, Glenesk Road, on June 3 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Call Jan Wootten on 020 8921 8088.
GOLD MEDALS: Greenwich Leisure Ltd held a competition on May 21 for pupils from five gymnastic centres across the borough. Over 170 children aged between five and 11 competed. Meadowside Leisure Centre won the contest after bagging 12 medals, including five golds.
NEW MAYOR: The new mayor of Greenwich was inaugurated on May 24 at the Painted Hall, Greenwich University. Mayor Harpinder Singh, who is also councillor for the Woolwich Common ward, will replace former mayor Councillor Dr Paul Tyler.
OPEN DAY: The University of Greenwich is holding its annual information day from 10am to 4pm at the Maritime Greenwich campus on July 1.
