A BARTENDER has shaken off tough competition to prove he can mix a mean Manhattan and pour the perfect pina colada.
Pete Marshall, who made his first cocktail seven years ago, fought off competition from 1,700 other hopefuls from Europe and America to be crowned the World Bartending Champion in Las Vegas.
Mr Marshall, who has worked as a barman at TGI Friday's restaurant at Bluewater since 1999, was judged on his mixing skills, manoeuvres and entertainment value.
The 25-year-old, who knows 750 cocktail recipes, said: "It's not really hit home yet. When I got down to the final three I was nervous and when they announced I had won it was an amazing feeling."
Mr Marshall, of Cannon Road, Bexleyheath, won a trophy and £2,500.
He will hold the title for the next 12 months.
