A SECONDARY school was paid a flying visit by the air ambulance to collect a donation.
Year 9 students from Thomas Tallis School, Kidbrooke Park Road, Greenwich, got the chance to look inside one of the service's helicopters when it landed on the front sports field.
The school invited London Air Ambulance staff to say thank you for taking pupil Siobhan Bowen to Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, after she was knocked down in a hit-and-run incident in May last year.
The school presented the service with a cheque for £820. The cash was raised by a non-uniform day and a raffle.
Headteacher Rob Thomas said: "We're sure the rapid and professional response of the air ambulance team played a major part in Siobhan's recovery.
"We are delighted we were able to give something back."
