A UNIVERSITY student encouraged more than 60 people to limber up to raise money for a cancer charity.

Carly Metcalfe, of Vancouver Road, Forest Hill, organised a sponsored aerobics session at Lewisham Hospital in aid of its Colorectal Cancer Awareness Appeal.

She organised the event as part of her University of Kent sports science degree course.

But the 20-year-old was also driven to help fund more research into the cancer which claimed the life of a close friend.

Ms Metcalfe said: "It has been really stressful trying to organise the whole thing but it has also been good fun."

The day of aerobics, which took place on Saturday, raised about £1,000 for the appeal.
