NORDIC WALK: Councillors at Kent County Council tried Nordic Walking as part of a project looking into obesity. Mark Fittock and Alan Chell, who are examining obesity in the county, tested the exercise at Cascades Leisure Centre, Thong Lane, Gravesend. Nordic walking involves walking with poles to exercise both arms and legs.

ASK AWAY: Wilmington councillors Derek Hunnisett and Eddy Lampkin will hold a surgery at the Church Hall, Church Hill, Wilmington. Residents are invited to raise issues of concern or to obtain an update on events. The surgery will be held on March 25 from 11am until noon.

NEW POWERS: Meopham Parish Council will be able to issue fixed penalty notices to deal with people who drop litter. The new regulations are expected to come into force in April and will allow action against litter-droppers and flytippers.

CAR CRASH: Firefighters had to make the scene of an accident safe after a car overturned. Thameside firefighters were called to Winchester Crescent, Gravesend, on March 10 at 2.22am. A female passanger was taken to hospital.
