A HIGH-profile police operation has been clamping down on rogue motorists in Thamesmead.
People living in the area have been voicing concerns about motorists acting illegally so police mounted a five-day clampdown.
A total of 57 drivers had their cars removed for having no licence or insurance. Another 64 were given fixed-penalty notices for offences including not wearing a seatbelt. Three were arrested for other offences.
The operation took place on main roads into town.
Drivers with no insurance face fines of £200 and six penalty points on their licence and will have to retrieve their cars from the police pound.
Those who cannot produce a valid insurance certificate within seven days will have their cars crushed.
