AN APPLICATION to install a mobile phone mast on the grounds of a sports club has been refused.
Bromley Council's planning sub-committee turned down the application for a 22m telecommunications mast and additional ancillary equipment at Beckenham Rugby Football Club in Balmoral Avenue, Beckenham.
The application, proposed by mobile phone company O2, was made to replace an existing 15m mast already on the site.
Ward councillor Peter Dean said: "I am simply relieved the committee has listened to the concerns of residents and this unsightly structure, which is on a prime piece of urban open space land, will not be proceeding."
