TWO shops have been fined for selling spray paint to under-16s.
Chastilian Motors, Parsonage Manorway, Belvedere, and Michael Biggs, a partner in Brampton Motors, Brampton Road, Bexleyheath, pleaded guilty to the offence under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003, at Bexley Magistrates' Court on March 2.
The shops were among 13 visited by Bexley Council's trading standards officers on August 1 last year, because of concern about graffiti. The officers used a 13-year-old to see whether shops were prepared to sell the paint to under 16s.
Chastilian Motors was fined £400 with £300 costs and Mr Biggs was fined £280 with £280 costs.
If you know anyone selling spray paint to under-16s or who is responsible for graffiti in the borough, you can report them anonymously.
