A CORONER has said there was no evidence to link the death of a 35-year-old man with the weight- reducing drug he was taking.
Lawrence Yeowell was found dead in his bed in Jacob House, Kale Road, Thamesmead, by his parents on September 23 last year.
An inquest at Croydon Coroner's Court heard in March last year Mr Yeowell was prescribed Reductil to bring down his weight, but on April 18 he had suffered a fit while driving a bus.
As a result, his Public Service Vehicle licence was routinely withdrawn for five years. Mr Yeowell had previously suffered a fit in 1982, following a road accident.
Pathologist Dr Adam Coumbe said it was not possible to find a cause of death, because the body was so decomposed.
Nor could he say whether Mr Yeowell had suffered another fit because they leave no trace.
Coroner Dr Roy Palmer told Mr Yeowell's parents their son's death was likely to have been from natural causes. He recorded an open verdict.
