KNIFE crime in the borough has risen by 11 per cent, according to the latest Met Police figures.
Between last April to January this year, 422 incidents of knife crime were recorded compared to 379 for the same period last year.
Leader of the London Assembly Conservatives Bob Neill is concerned and wants more uniformed officers to "flood" crime hot spots in Lewisham.
Mr Neill will call for action at the next Metropolitan Police Authority meeting on March 30 when he will propose a review on the way police tackle knife crime.
He said: "This increase will shock every member of our community.
"There is a growing fear about knife crime and the police must respond to this.
"We need a urgent review of our knife crime strategy."
