A CHURCH is opening its doors to the community to provide drop-in entertainment and company for pensioners.
From March 20, St Barnabas Church, Tile Kiln Lane, Joydens Wood, will be holding a pop-in parlour each Monday.
Residents will be able to drop in from 2pm to 4pm, to play games of Scrabble or cards and make new friends.
Parishioners will be available to lend a friendly ear to anyone who would like to discuss their problems.
The Rev George Day said: "There are a lot of elderly people living in the area and we decided to provide them with a gentle setting to meet in."
The first session, in the rear church hall, will be launched by Dartford mayor Councillor Ian Armitt and mayoress Councillor Jennifer Rickwood at 2.30pm.
