SHOPPERS flocked to a Fair Trade festival in Bexleyheath Broadway at the weekend to find out more about the issue and to sample some of the Fair Trade products on offer.

Fair Trade offers producers of food and other products in the Third World stable prices for their products which meets production costs plus a premium to reinvest in the business or community schemes.

Products on offer at the festival included foods and products such as tea and coffee as well as clothes, bags and jewellery.

Increasing numbers of high street retailers are selling Fair Trade goods, including the Co-op, Asda, Marks and Spencer and Top Shop.

Bexley is hoping to become a Fair trade borough, to widen the sale and use of Fair trade products.
