POLICE COVER: Sevenoaks Council is supporting a change in police cover from two forces to one. Currently police cover is provided by North Kent Police and West Kent Police. The council wants West Kent Police to cover the whole borough. The move would include a new police station at Swanley. The consultation period finished at the end of February.

NEW CENTRE: The McGrath training centre is almost ready to be unveiled. The nurse and volunteer training centre is a joint project between The Lions Hospice and the Ellenor Foundation. Presentations will be held to mark its official opening this week at the Lions Hospice, Coldharbour Road, Northfleet.

FORCE PATROLS: The Rural Task Force is tackling anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in Darenth, Sutton-at-Hone, and Horton Kirby. It patrols the areas to give a visible police presence to alleviate problems. In early February seven people aged between 14 and 17 years old were arrested for criminal damage offences.

NEW OFFICERS: North Kent Police have two new Community Liaison Officers to promote links between the police and community. Part of DC Dave Jarvis and PC Julie Michel's role is to build on the relationship with members of minority communities. They will also monitor race and hate crime.
