A SCHOOL has held a jumble sale to raise funds to repair its playing field.

Clare House Primary School, Oakwood Avenue, Beckenham, held the sale in aid of the pitch, which gets waterlogged in the winter and dry and cracked in the summer.

Works to improve the field could begin in April and are estimated to cost around £6,000.

The improvements will see the top surface removed and the grass re-seeded.

If this is not successful, the pitch could need a further £20,000 of drainage work.

The event, which was organised by the school's parent teacher association, raised £335.

Association member Nicole Malloy said: "We had a good turnout with around 115 people through the door. We had a high standard of items on sale and many people went home with a good bargain."
