ENTHUSIASTIC traders and council chiefs are behind a joint venture to give the borough a spring appeal.
With just 13 days to go until the onset of spring, both Woolwich Road and Trafalgar Road in Greenwich have been graced with 30 floral hanging baskets.
The project is a joint venture between the East Greenwich Traders' Association and Greenwich Council.
More than 15 traders contributed to the scheme by getting businesses to help raise £3,472 to buy the baskets.
The aim of the initiative is to brighten the area up in time for spring which officially starts between March 20 and 21 each year and make the area more attractive to visitors.
East Greenwich Traders' Association chairman Pauline Clarke said: "I'm very pleased so many traders got involved in this initiative.
"Not only does it make the area more pleasant for residents and visitors but also helps bring traders together."
