SWANLEY ACTIVE RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION

January 2006 saw us following indoor activities. On January 12, a group of members went to the South Bank TV studios in London to be part of the audience for the Des and Mel' show when the guests were Dawn Steele, who we all remember as Lexie in Monarch of the Glen' and Martin Shaw, now appearing in the BBC legal drama as Judge John Deed. A very nice day out.

At our monthly meeting of January 17, we had a visit from Police Sergeant Kay Braybrook of the Kent Police Crime Reduction Unit talking to us on distraction burglaries'. This was a very instructive and highly enlightening talk and it made for a very interesting afternoon.

On January 24 we made our way to the Brown Trout at Lamberhurst for lunch, a very good meal after which we went into Tunbridge Wells for shopping.

Our walkers are wisely not sallying forth into the countryside on these days of frost, ice and cold winds. However, the ten-pin bowlers continue to enjoy themselves.

We are looking forward to warmer weather and brighter days - it cannot come soon enough for us!
