The 23-year-old, who has been surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane is thought to be costing the Bees £350,000.

Despite injuries to Les Ferdinand, Chris Armstrong and Steffen Iversen, a change of club is thought to appeal to the striker.

Fenn said: "I have become stale in the reserves and I need regular first team football. I realise a change is needed as I have been at the club since I was a kid."

Bees players returned for pre-season training last week eager to start the season off strongly after a miserable run towards the end of the campaign.

The move for the one-time Portsmouth target dispels rumours that the club were on the verge of signing Charlton striker Kevin Lisbie and also missed out on former Aston Villa marksman Darren Byfield - who opted instead to join rivals Walsall.

The Bees have joined more than 70 Premiership and Nationwide clubs in support of the "I'll be Des" campaign.

It is a campaign which urges all people who go out in the evening to nominate a non-drinking driver.

With drink driving on the increase the Bees are considering selecting certain matches when drivers will be given special promotions at nominated match day bars.

Press secretary Peter Gilham welcomed the move and promised that certain fans will benefit from the scheme.

He commented: "It is part of a national campaign to help people who are designated drivers. The club are looking to support, encourage and to do something special on match days on which we will help give 100 per cent support."
